A swirl filter might help... a bit... but swirl filters generally settle out the larger particles...

Sounds like your problem is more due to suspended solids... you might need a matte or sieve filter...

ya it's fines..... so will need something to help reduce them....

will look at a few filters.... and see what works, until them, I will just continue
to wash the roots every couple days

an update to that tiny chocolate hab plant....

I have picked off at least 200 chocolate habs.... and it's still going strong...

looks like I will have to pull it out because it's using up almost all of the nutrients .....

all my other plants have slowed down in growth....

NOOOOOOO!!!! We love your chocolate hab! It is a beacon of the awesomeness that can only be had in an Aquaponics system! It sounds like you just need more fish.

I'm going to try every angle to get you to keep the chocolate hab! With all those fish the nutrient spike created when you pull the chocolate hab would be disastrous! How are your other plants going to handle the nutrient load?

Are we sure it is just the Hab steeling all the nutrients or might it be just too hot for most the other plants right now to the Hag is getting to use all the other nutrients while everything else is taking a summer siesta.

Maybe just prune the Hab back a bit rather than complete removal?

no worries, I have another choc hab started.... but this time Im keeping it at a manageable size

I have kept the plants to a min. with all this heat we are having... so will be putting in lots more next week... so pulling out the BIG hab plant wont be a problem....

hey CC

I doubt I can plant it anywhere else.... the trunk is now wood and about 2" in diameter (51mm) so Im sure the root system is expansive.... even though it's planted right beside the rock guard and I haven't see any roots being invasive....

I have another one thats about 1/4 the size... giving choc. habs now also...
