Hey dont get me wrong. I do beleive we are stuffing up the environment in many different ways , but a tax that is sent in part to the world bank is a shonk of the largest degree. A carbon tax should be paid in full back to its people

Julia's version is going to cost $9 something a week and most people get $10 something back.
So most people are $1ish a week better off.
Thats +$50 a year for the majority of average Australians.

Tony's plan has also been independently scrutinised by the same economists and has the average Australian -$1,300 a year.

That might be in the first year but what happens after that. I guess time will tell, but I still dont like it

Actually Julia is only copying Tony Abbots idea.... I can't see why he is so against it when he said this in 2009.

GST floored me. They make that much revenue out of it, then in the North everyone put their prices wayyyyyy up .....

$110 per hour mechanic

1.8 ,million for a house in Headland !!!! come on.

Not arguing with you Jessy... but an electrician is $130 down here in Perth, but he can buy an average house for $400k, or say $700k for a reasonably flash one... whereas the sparky in Hedland or Karratha has to pay $1.2m for an average house, $1.8-$2m for flash one, or $1500-$2500pw rent. He's also gotta pay about $0.40c per litre more for the fuel he puts in his van... it's the sparky here in the city that's gouging us.

...and a mechanic at a large dealership is charged at $120-$130 down here... and about $85-$90hr for the independent guys.

Climate sceptics and carbon tax sceptics they dont need science or professional opinion just a good scare campaign funded by the big polluters.

Great logic. Put a carbon tax on the polluters. They put thier prices up so people should modify thier behavior to stop using so much carbon( govenment says this will help environment) then they give people money so they dont lose votes or have to change thier habits of wasting electricity and driving V8 utes so there is not change for most peoples carbon output....

Even an trading scheme is just another way for the rip off merchants to make money... while we pay the price for their free lunch...

This misuse of the "socialist" tag is just ideological bullocks...

But you are right .. it's a joke... what we should do... is set strict emmision guidelines for each industry/plant... with a grace period... (even perhaps with tax incentives)....

And them fine them a $1million+ each and every time the guidelines are broken...
