Just jumping in here for a sec, maybe the water could flow through but the solids could be settled out/captured before leaving the raceway or what-have-you and used somewhere maybe in a recirculating setup, or to water wicking beds or something. Until the solids are broken up they are in packets that might be diverted for useful purpose.

Nice piece of property. How far is the creek (running water) away from the ponds and possible grow bed area? All I see in your pics is a pond... and a lot of time spent mowing the grass.

So follow me on this idea: a pipe in the creek runs to the pond keeping it topped up. You already have a pond pump, so pump water up to the grow beds. Let gravity feed the solids-removed water to some NFT channels or something. Those plants uptake more nutrients, cleaning the water further before dropping back into the pond. "Dropping" the water from any height will help with aeration of the water. Your fish will thank you for it.

It's not a closed loop system, but you are using the aquaponic theory. Problem that I see is that you don't have total control of your pond and incoming water. Have you done a water test with the local extension agent or the UGA lab? Not sure what all they test for, aside from what you can get from the Master Test Kit. Is the pond lined, or natural?

Have any pics of the running water area? I'm sure Bunson wants to dream some more of all the possibilities. Shucks, I want to dream...

Bill

The creek is about 50 feet from the pond

All our ponds are Georgia natural red clay.

As far as testing we have never done much.
Our whole water shed comes out of national wilderness area.
We have never put anything in the ponds other than some salt and that was many years back.
So it is pretty pure water.

We also don't use much in the way of chemicals on the property.

I started another thread in systems with a lot more info if you are interested.
I will post some picture of the creeks .
