you took it to the gutter with this one...

There are several exotics in Australia with conservation value too

We have the only wild camels
We have the largest wild herds of banteng cattle
The tilapia here is pure breed of Oreochromis mossambicus which is endangered in its original habitat
Radiata pine is naturally very restricted and vulnerable
Tagasaste is restricted to a few islands in the canary islands
Even sparrows in Europe are in decline

Of course you could add tilapia to a local lake
But they aren't going to survive or be noticed unless environmental conditions are modified to favour them! So your efforts would be pointless!
As is your attempt at sarcasm

If you really want to show a hardline stance for natives
Why not start by giving your house back to the aboriginals
And jump on a slow boat back to wherever you reckon you are native to?

Ive been biting my tongue but Its obvious who started the insults and I found it straight up rude.

Your knowledge is welcome but the above post stunk. There is no false accusations here.

If there was a slow boat out of here I know who Id be happy to wave goodbye too.

I simply dont understand your problem with my comment

How is suggesting that this guy who's all about how terrible it is to have non-natives here
Should show his support for natives only australia by voting with his feet?

I think it's a pretty effective way to highlight the absurdity of his argument

Btw I take it mods here consider this ban worthy
While on page one there's talk about punching people in the face? And not a whimper?
And then calling people a dickhead

Classy joint you manage her
Real classy :(

Most people join this forum, say hello, get to know the members, let the members get to know them (in a friendly way) before expressing their opinions (rightly or wrongly) like you.

This way we get to learn about your skills and personality so when posts like yours are made we know how to take them.

When you come out 'all guns blazing' expect to be shot down.

My guess is you are the same moron that joins this forum every couple of months trying to destabilize it.

We are bigger than that.

You will continue to post, get shot down and eventually disappear while the forum continues on.

Condesending tone in quite a few of the posts is what probably annoys most people. A shame as you seem to have allot to offer.

Okay. So JG annoyed some people. Let's get over it and move on. We are not JG parents.

I just read the whole thread and more than one person is responsible for things getting out of control.

Debates like this on the Internet are such a waste if time.

JG it would be nice to see a few more specific references/citations pointing to your supporting info if you have it at hand.

Cheers Dr Luke

Nice to have some civil interactions here

Yes I've been condescending, it's a lot more polite than all the insults ive been getting
I could use a lot worse terms to describe my opinion of the above posters.
But I haven't

If I can be called a dickhead, accused of being on drugs, have caricatures of me being punched
And have not one of my arguments refuted with anything but ad hominem attacks

But I'M offensive because I'm condescending?

JG response does seem a little odd. He does have some points but like I have already said they are more appropriate for a philosophical or higher level discussion. For such a discussion it would need to be preceded by an agreement on the definition of various terms like value, damage, harm, risk etc. Without that there is too much room for miss-communication.

An example we could talk about without getting too esoteric about things is the movement of asian honey bees into Australia. Unlike the colonisation of black widow spiders, european wasps, foxes, cats, etc the Asian Honey bee is extending its range by itself. There is much concern about the potential threat this species poses to the Australian environment and the nations economy. Since it is occuring without human assistance then you could argue as I imagine JG would that it is a natural event and something we should except. However since we are part of our environment and many other animals can and do manipulate their environment to their benefit we would be perfectly entitled to prevent/encourage the entrance of this species to our nation. Since we are proportably rational beings we could have a discussion about whether we want this to occur or not and take appropriate action.

What I don't understand is JG premise to decide that we don't want to introduce a species makes us sheep.

It's not the presence or absence of the animal

It's the automatic response
That presence is always equal to harm
Without knowing any facts or doing any studies
And it's not

And the typical response to this herecy

That's the sheeple bit

The problem with European honeybees is they displace native fauna such as possums and cockatoos in tree hollows. We also have native species extending their range as a result of land clearing and cereal crop production such as pink and grays and corellas. It's a real problem down my way with the 3 species of endangered black cockatoos losing their nesting habitat and feeding areas. Anyone seen 'on a wing and a prayer' about carnabies cockatoo which aired recently on abc?
