When watching that video, it flashed up in the section above the video that I had won the hourly prize, click on the icon to claim before the time ran out. I didn't click as I thought it may have been a virus, has anyone else seen this flash up?

I will try to post some pics tomorrow of my autosiphons.....for some reason, I have yet to have any kind of problem with the solid version that Les uses. I have installed at least 8 of them and they all work the first time and continue to work.

Most of my autosiphons are in Large GBs (300 gallons US) but I have been installing model systems for distributing in the communities. I will take pics so you can see what I am doing. I basically just followed the threads of Janet and Les.... I also hae a couple of hose systems patterned after Monyas.

I am not sure if this will be of help, but this is the way I am building my autosiphons and have yet to have one not work for me. I have only a hand saw, a drill and scissors (sp)?

1. Begin by marking where you will drill the hole in the GB container...I usually try to stay about 15 cms away from any edges. Drill a hole so that the male pvc adapter will go in hard. I put silicone on the threads and the ridge so that there is a seal when it is turned in tight.

2. Once the adapter is in place and the silicone has sealed well, screw a female adapter on the underside of the tank. I usually put sealer on the edge that comes in contact with the GB surface so there is less possibility of a leak. Let the silicone sealer set up.

3. While the Silicone is setting up measure the depth of the growbed media and cut a pipe 6 cm (2 inches ) shorter than that. I am assuming using pipe that is 19 mm diameter (3/4 inch)

4. Cut a piece of 2" (58mm) pipe 25 milimeters (1 inch)longetr than than the last pipe you cut. Place a cap on one end of this pipe and make sure there is a good seal. Use silicone or pvc cement for this if necessary.

5. draw a line around the opposite end of the 58 mm pipe 25 mm from the end. then make at least enough crenelations in the pipe to allow 25 mm of opening for water to flow through. Use the mark so that the depth of all crenelations are uniform.

6.Now place the 19mm pipe inside the GB in the adapter that you siliconed in step 1.

7. cut a pipe 1/2 the length of the stand pipe from step 1 and insert it in the adapter that protrudes from the bottom of the GB.

8. Connect a 45 degree elbow followed by a another short pipe and another 45 degree elbow.

9. Slip the lrger pipe with the cap on it over the stand pipe and you have an auto siphon!

File comment: Begin by choosing the pipe size, I used 19mm or 3/4 inch. The hole is 25mm (1 inch) for the male threads to go through.

File comment: make sure the crenalations are even at the top so it breaks the siphon cleanly.

File comment: here the outer siphon pipe is over the stand pipe which can be seen through the crenelation at the bottom.

cut a length of 100 mm pipe at least the height of your GB media. and drill many holes in it smaller than the size of your media. When filling the GB, this will keep the media from clogging the crenelations in the siphon tube.

File comment: slip this larger tube over the siphon tube and you have a completed autosiphon.

Very simialr to Les' - interesting to see though that it works without the air pipe that Les uses to break the syphon. My only concern with using your exact design is having to have the end of the drain pipe at least half the length of the stand-pipe below the bed.
