Found an interesting video of systems at Cabrillo Community College in California. skip to about 17 minutes to get to the Aquaponics and Hydro systems. At about 24:45 there are some really cool outdoor hoop house/ floating raft systems. Really cool design, but I don't really see any of the extensive clarifying and filtering you would need for the rafts, but I think a flood and drain grow bed would be boss with such a design.

That was pretty funny. I like what they're doing there though, I could see the benefits of running a straight to waist hydro tomato set up next to a large scale AP. I'm sure it's mainly for the educational benefit of students to show them multiple methods, but It could also make for more consistent profitability having dual methods going.

I guess not really straight to waist, but traditional Hydro, next to AP would be a good way to make profits more consistent.

Yeah, I always confuse those two terms. If you eat the tomatoes off the vine straight to waist may make sense. Haha
