I have a simple measure when designing things. Take a stubby in your hand bend your elbow and lean on the thing, if its comfortable its good (and especially if its got a flat surface to put the stubby down when your lighting a smoke)

Well its been a few years :)
Lots of new faces and a few I recognise.
Pulled out the system a month or so ago and so a run down on how it went.
Lightproofing paint failed on the insides of the polystyrene boxes, acrylic paint on the exterior did not.
After approx 2 years the Amway vaccum pipe split on the flout and turned it into a continuous flow.
Poor maintenance last year allowed a tomato plant to grow too large, roots went through the styrene box into the trough and stuffed my pump (slightly unexpected as I thought it would just root prune it)
Dumping biofilter worked well although overly complex.

Most of the stuff is going to be reused.

Couple of interesting things, although bottle caps are slightly bouyant, if filled in a container above water level they tend not to move after initial settling Well the ones out of the biofilter do and I didn't have problems with the ones in pots.
Will work for CF and may work for CF. :) I will do some testing.

I now have a source for some large PVC pipes 15" x 42" x half an inch thick so happy days with a few new ideas (going upwards), and a source of bottle caps. :)

What's happened to Steve, he used to be a compulsive poster?
