Thanks for all the replies so far. Can some one please tell me how much space to leave between the pipes if I put them on top of each other.

I need to learn how to use sketch up.

I want to start to build in two weeks time if I can get the plans all figured out.

Most likely so that I can change it easy.

Can I use fittings with rubber seals so that I can rebuild fix blockages or is it just looking for leaks.

Thanks.

He's still looking for an answer to the question about safety of toilet putty. I'd answer him, but I don't know.
On an unrelated note, all this bumping is getting me a little excited.

Thanks Charlie,

Is there and alternative?

Will be looking into buying some pipes soon. Would prefer not to weld them so that maintenance would be possible or is there another way.

See use silicon seals and easy to remove.

Thanks for all those that posted this info. Just thought that I will repeat for some one else doing a search.

I have made some plugs with seeds. thought that I would have some seedling when my NFT's go on line.

Here is my method:
Cut pool noodle in disks.
Cut to middle of disk.
Use cotton mop as wicks.
Put seed in groove next to cotton wick.
Suspend in Koi pond sump with a little prayer.

Please see photos, Thanks.

If you are using PVC, for areas that you might want or need to open up for whatever reason, use those couplers with screw caps at each end and a good rubber gasket. Check this one:

About the space between the pipes, it depends how big your hands are. If there is an issue that you have to cut and fix things, you got to have enough room between them so you do not end up taking the whole thing apart.
In regards to plummer putty, read the warning lable if there is one. There are some putties that is food safe. Also, you can seal that area with some epoxy. Almost all expoxies are food safe after it is all dried and hardned.

Thanks for the help. I was thinking I should mount each pipe separately so that if there is a problem I can isolate it as well as remove it by it self if need be. Will make sure to leave enough space though.

Hi all,

My seeds came up and then just die after having two small leaves. Any ideas why this happened. Can I only do seedlings the way I did it.

Thanks.
