I'm getting constant "Problem Loading Page" errors.

Also withdrawal symptoms. Please fix.

The BYAP website has been playing up for at least a couple of days now. The Home, Magazine, Videos and Information links all flick straight to the Google home page, at least with my browser which is Firefox. Is a solution pending?

Joel said the site (not the forum) was hacked last week and his administrator was AWOL so the fix is (was?) taking a while.

Thanks for the update, Chillidude. As long as the forum keeps working all will be well!

Yeah forum should be all good... :thumbright:

We have our main man Callum who's been updating the forum software regularly, this should keep the nasties at bay.

But yes the main website had another attack with malicious code being put into all of the main website pages.. The .htacces was even edited, this is what was causing the redirects for the different pages in the menue at the top.

I managed to work this out and fix it, so at the moment all should be running ok.. The website is being updated with the latest joomla version, though it's taking a while to get it all sorted. There's also a few minor issues with the way the main page is showing, the "news" module is missing, but this is being worked on.

.htaccess and code injection requires direct server access, so either your server security is soft or the hackers are particularly skilled. As there isn't too much you can do about the latter, work on the former by talking with your host provider and seeing what they can do and changing all of your server passwords, including for your DBs.

For "super sensitive" files such as htaccess, you can write a script which re-loads these files from a secure location as a cron job. If 'they' do manage to make changes, at least those changes will be short-lived, until they discover your workaround and workaround that! It's a viscous game...

I believe that it's most likely to do with a plug in for our joomla install thats out of date. Evidently these can allow security issues that allow people in. A good reason not to add too many bells and whistles to a site unless you're willing to spend the time and money in constantly keeping each plug in up to date. Or to have everything custom coded from scratch, but this leaves issues when you're updating joomla, as I'm discovering.

Wordpress does plugin updates automatically, or at least checks for them I believe.. I hope joomla will do this in the next version

I really like the word Joomla.

I think I shall name my next child in aid of my passion for this word...

Thats where poor old Drupal gets left behind.. (another CMS system) I can't think of anything with the sound "droop" in it that's going to do do exceptionally well.
