Are you human?: barely

Hi everyone, I'm looking to do some independent reading on aquaponics. There are a few choices on amazon that I am looking at, but do not want to purchase one before I know it is good, reliable information. I prefer something on Amazon because I can download it to my kindle. I'm going to subscribe to BYAP magazine when I get back into the country (currently studying in South America), but for now I would like another source to digest some information. Any suggestions? Thanks!!

My knowledge is extremely limited though, so I'm not even sure where to begin to ask questions...

The few books about aquaponics... that are available... are just compilations of the info found on the forums anyway...

Sadly, several have been written by people with little aquaponics experience... or at least at the time they were written anyway....

Some have been compiled into e-books by people that not only have no real experience.... but no real interest in aquaponics either...

Thank you, but I already read this. I guess judging from the answers so far there isn't any books that stand out.

I have a lot of questions, but I don't want to flood this forum a bunch of different threads with my questions :dontknow:

Start slowly :D

Basic concepts you can search for answers:

Nitrogen cycle - Ammonia to Nitrite to Nitrate
CHIFT PIST - Constant Height in Fish Tank, Pump in Sump Tank
Flood and Drain or Constant Flood
Media - Gravel, hydroton, expanded clay, lava rock, shale
Stocking levels

Start your AP journey by defining what you want to get out of it.
Then you can start designing your system; each time you get stuck on a problem/concept you can do a search of the forum to find an answer. If you're problem is an original one or hasn't been asked already then post here and someone should be able to point you in the right direction.
Once you have your design "finalised" yourself, post it up here and someone will have a look at it to make sure you haven't made any obvious mistakes and/or point out any SWOTs.
With your design "approved" you can get building; there are enough people here to assist you locating parts and providers in your area.

I was going to suggest that you check the information link at the top of the page but there seems to be a problem with the link. I keep getting redirected to Google.com if I click on the Home link or a broken link message if I click on Information :? Website Re-design issues?

Most of the questions you could ask have probably been answered somewhere here but it's worth asking if you can't find the answer or if you don't know enough to know what to ask, just tell us what you're confused about.

I read a number of books before I found this forum, some good, some not so much. The best I found was Aquaponic Gardening by Sylvia Bernstein. I read the book 3 times before sending it to my Mother (she has some interest in AP as well).
