Black plastic layed and the builders plastic is of low quality. It tears and holes too easily.

There is better black plastic available, so be aware, probably cost more, but I wish I had it.

I feel the Black plastic is the finish and the most important part of this process , so quality is essential.....the thicker the better.

Side filling stand pipes are being cut under the drop saw. 2 cuts needed to make the stand pipe with this drop saw.

Look on the bright side; at least you have a drop saw! If it were me, I'd have to handcut with a hacksaw!

want to hear a laugh........ i can't post any more pictures until i find where my new Bull Arab puppy buried the cam corder cord :?

I don't know what is worse.......44 ton of rock that weighs an absolute back breaker, the 12 ton dirt wanting a place to be stocked and dished into the new garden beds or the Irish girl worker carring on everytime we have to drive over a bit of gravel, and has to do a bit of manual labor.

The Irish one is killing me the most........ :upset:

Can you roll the standpipes over on a, say 30 degree angle to get the right high?

Depends how neat you want it? Laying them over sill leaves an unsightly piece of pipe sticking out that i would cut anyway.

Just a tip before you put anything in i would fill to the level you want with water just to test leaks
Its bloody hard to fix after they are full
in my 11 beds 2 leaked
You can still put the stones in with the water in there it helps hold the plastic in place

Good thinking F+F. We did hold the plastic in the air to look as we gently layed it down like a bed sheet, and went around and placed duct tape band aids on a few places........

I might end up a few more band aids :shifty:

The plastic is crappy low grade.....100um, just called Blackwoods, so I am off to pick up a roll of 200um, and use that instead....double the thickness.

The 100 um won't go to waiste, it can be layed out on the sand dune waiting for the rocks to get spread on top. :flower: Cheers mate, it has been playing on my mind

OHHH I don't know should I up the plastic to 200um?????

Now i would always use 2 layers you can use the thin stuff first then the thicker after
just quoting from experience [ been there done that]
duct tape and band aids will leak you have to be shore theres no leaks
just a small hole will make the bed useless
