I wouldnt have a problem with the carbon tax if 100% of the revenue generated went to renewable energy research and implementation.
But it isnt.
A massive percentage is going back out as tax rebates.
So it is just another Robin Hood tax.
What a cop out

Superveg... that's just completely wrong....

The tax is slated to increase over the next 3 years.... until it moves to a market based ETS....

And 95% of the tax is offset with "free permits" anyway...

The tax is a joke.... the ideological misinformation campaign isn't... we're being snowed by deliberate ideological bullshit....

That's more about changing the government... than actual governance...

I heard the other day (labour poli on the radio could have been the PM or maybe the treasurer they all sound the same to me) that even when the "tax" shifts to being a trade able permit there are limits to how low the price can go and how high the price can go. I don't see how that can be a market solution even if everything else has been sorted.

It's not actually possible to be anything like a true market based thing when it was introduced by legislation and constantly adjusted by regulation. Maybe the market may influence it but it's just pretend really.
