Have you added any new containers or anything to the system F&F that could be leaching some sort of residue. Regarding the town water, has it been neutralised - not that that would kill the fish that quickly.

Ring the Water Board guys F&F and ask if they've been doing any work in the area... sometimes they flush the pipes with some stuff... not sure what, and they always reckon it's safe to drink anyway...

Has the tap water looked cloudier" than normal??

I had a tank that I always had problems with. It took three attempts to get it right. The third time I cleaned it I used 2:10 straight bleach solution (10 parts water), scrubbed and swirled it around, rinsed it out and let it dry in the sun for a few days. I do it with all my new tanks now, makes them crystal clean too.

at least you know that the hospital tank is a "clean" tank. It was not affected like the rest of the system.

figure steam would kill most nasties F&F... got nothing to lose and everything to gain... I'd say go for it...

Could always use a dilute bleach solution as well... or even a vinegar solution

F&F Ive been reading all your posts from 1st to last seeing if i could find the problem.
Basically you didn't have a problem until the big rain hit (is that right?)
Now at the risk of sounding like a fathead, what paint did you use for your system and even if its ridgey didge waterproof paint did any of it come off/ wear off in the rains.
I know this sounds dumb but i had to ask

Another F&F... is this the first real rain since you brought the system online??... first heavy rain??

Thinking maybe two possibilities....

(1) Some kinda nasties in the clay/base runoff into the IBC's

(2) Did you fertlise/spray the soil beds recently before the rains...

working on the same run-off to tanks theory???
