ROZ, Haven't got one yet!
I'm looking for anything that will fit in the old laundry and still give a little space to add the things i need.
Behind the dividing wall is an old toilet area, I may even put another toilet in as ours is in the bathroom and theres nothing worse when having visitors and your busting.

I think Black Bream is a local name for Sooty Grunter......which is (I think) a Queensland fish.

Gary, I've just had a look here and it seems you are right, thanks for the info :)
You know what it's like with common names, you can never be sure if everyone is talking about the same species or not. Thanks.

Ok gnash... here's my thinking... 2 x blue barrel header tanks = 400ltr full.. so lets say 75% fill to drain => 300ltr... if you want to maintain at leasdt 50% in your fish tank then you'd need at least a 600ltr tank, thought that was mentioned somewhere.

If you're pumping continously and the majority of the system is gravity feed then I would assume another "xxx" amount of capacity could be remaining in the growbeds, pipes etc...

If you're getting my drift I'd have to think that you would need a least a 1000ltr tank to be safe, even then that doesn't take into account the possible temperature increase throughout the system, which could be important if your main tank level is low,as well as hot.

Anyone else have thoughts???

Jaymie, not so much wishful thinking just more along the lines of I WILL GET IT that way I stay focused.
Unfortunately finances are not great( not that I'm starving ) but If I have to wait 2 weeks for free tank Vs buy it now for $xxx, I'll wait every time as I'm a tightarse :D

ROZ I'm hearing ya, The space in the laundry is 3m+2.5m+2.2M in height whatever I can fit in there I will use.
I'm in negotiations with a mate for his old gal water tank, He thinks he doesn't want to get rid of it but I will liquor him up on Friday night and go from there :evil3:

RE: Sooty Grunter....

Very common misconception... it is not the same as the Common Black Bream.

Sooty Grunter: Hephaestus fuliginosus Family: Terapontidae
Black Bream: Acanthopagrus butcheri Family: Sparidae

The sooty grunter actually is in the same family as Silver Perch (Bidyanus bidyanus). So it is more close related to SP than Black Bream.

There are a few different Black Bream however within the same genus:
-Common Black Bream (Acanthopagrus butcheri)
-Northern Black Bream (Acanthopagrus palmaris) Open marine water/reefs
-Pikey Black bream (Acanthopagrus berda) Named after its elongated second anal fin.

Thanks BF.
The Redpath book turned up the other day on styles of greenhouses and they look real good but just a bit expensive.
I think I will try building one from star pickets and black polypipe, basically bash the pickets in, cut pipe to length and fit over both pickets to form an arch, then use laserlite to strengthen and keep distances between arches.
I've seen this done before for shadehouses on farms to keep mass tree seedlings so it should work :D
