Thanks for the info on the trout, I hadn't gone as far as checking what prices they sell for. Barra probably won't work in SA, need to heat the water.

SA dosent get that cold. There are plenty of guys farming Barra in southern WA where temps get much colder than Adelaide. They do have to heat the water from April - November but the costs associated with it must make it still worthwhile. I guess it all depends on the scale of your fish farm.

Illegal to sell trout here. The game fishermen have the Govt by the knackers. Must buy a lot of liscences, and do lots of conservation type observations for various depts - you scratch my back...

The landlocked eels do spawn in landlocked lakes etc as glass eels have been observed in them. But it is thought this happens in the depths of the middle as though they try, scientists have never recorded such an event.
