I have read a lot of useful information on this site and it looks like this is a direction we need to go in the development of our family farm. We are in the process of acquiring the different parts necessary to build a system such as the IBC’s , and green house parts. There is still much investigation I need to do pertaining to solar driven pumps, automatic feeders, and power backup systems. Also I have been looking at the possibilities of freshwater shrimp. It would seem that the catfish would love any excess from breeding the shrimp. Also if there is anyone in our area who has been working with these systems I would be interested in meeting you. I promise to not be nuisance.
Have a Great Day,
jm

Hi JMC, Welcome. I am in south Alabama and just getting started myself. I am also looking into the shrimp as an addition to my catfish. From what I have learned not only would the excess shrimp be good feed for the fish but you can raise the shrimp from the food the fish waste without much more food expence. I am not sure I could teach you much right now but maybe you can learn what i do wrong if I kill them all. lolol Which I certainly hope I DONT do. IBCs and barrels shouldnt be hard to locate in your area. I wish you all the luck on your venture as I also feel this is the way the world will have to go one day sooner than most realise. Ken
