Ha ha, I just started reading your system thread DunderOz, and see that the glue doesn't set in the tanks, bummer....

It depends what type of PVA glue it is. Some will set soft, like chewing gum. These glues are used to glue non porous to porous surfaces.

Best thing to do is to get as much off, with a heap of damp rags, as soon as you open it up.

Yes, the thick stuff does peel off easily, when dry, or wet. The problem will be all the thin stuff.

Believe me, you don't want to open it up and let it set. :funny1: That's what I did!!

Welcome to you both. Reading system builds on this forum will give you a very solid base for building and modifying your system. Probably every mistake that can be made has been documented here. :)

Oookay, time for some photos.

As I said above, we have a fair ammount of room to work with. Fair warning though, at the moment, our yard is not much to look at. We've been here for about 18 months now, and it actually is about 100% better than what it looked like when we bought the place, and if you think that's bad, you don't even want to think about what the inside looked like...... o_O

The two spots we are considering for the aquaponic set-up are here by the fence:

or here on the concrete slab you can sort of see beneath the weeds:

This is where our formal (well... designated... :headbang:) entertaining area will eventually be:

With some IBC's  and a 6-person outdoor setting for scale. So, as you can see, our aquaponics will have pride of place :D

And here's the rest of the yard (and Razor, who is a bit of a spazz)... just to proove space is not an issue

Lol love razor.my dog goes crazy like that after hes gone for a dunk in his clam shell pool.
Galv fences reflect a lot of heat so be careful in summer.
Before I put new fences in,the reflected heat in summer would burn all the plants planted against it.
Just a thought.
Lots of room for expansion!....

yeah, fully intend to paint the fences... hopefully before the AP goes in.... they're a bit glarey in the afternoon, with their heat and light reflectingness...

Painting a fence is easy and quick with a spray gun or a specially designed roller and makes a heap of difference quick and cheaply. I would put the system where there is plenty of sunshine as well as in the area that you can easily expand. Your backyard has sooo much potential, I love new spaces! :)

Yeah hubby's pretty handy with a spray-gun, i just can't decide on a colour.... what I'd reallllly like to do is have some graffiti artists come in and do a forest or jungle inspired piece on that big flat fence for me, but i'm having trouble getting a hold of any..... :shifty:

Potential has been a key word with this place from the moment we saw it :laughing8: we're getting there slowly.

+1 to Faye, but think of the sunlight angles, especially in winter. It's easier to install shade for the summer than to try to increase the sun in the winter.

Deep ocean (blue/grey) makes a fantastic backdrop to green plants. Gives instant results to older places. I have recommended it when designing backyard gardens and I know of two husbands that painted the fences begrudgingly, only to later admit that they were exceptionally pleased with the results and glad they took my advice. :) Here is a link for more info
