Nice squash plants. How do you keep the squash bugs off?

Well, the roof portion is a single piece, then the end pieces are seperate and the side walls are seperate pieces.

I havent had too much of a problem with them this year Bill but in the past I have used a garlic/red pepper flake mixture for the light green type (kills them within 45 sec), neem oil (when the vines are hanging off of the raft and there is no dripping into the water) or mycotrol which doest kill them immediately but it seems to help keep them back. Recently ive been grinding up 15 bugs/2 liter and making a stinky spray which seems to do a great job at deturing them but I really hate the smell. Just starting to trial that method right now but it seems to be doing a good job. The weird part is that it drove them into my Swiss Chard which ive never had stink bugs attack before. Ill start spraying everything with it in the coming weeks and see how it works.

uck, stink bug spray.
I wonder if it would become even more effective if you leave it sit for a few days (so any stink bug germs can perhaps multiply and attack the stink bugs even more?)

Interested to hear about your results with the stink bug spray (some seasons the squash bugs, stink bugs, and leaf footed bugs are all terrible here.)

They held up great the entire time I used them but when I took them down and moved back in December, I didnt fill them back up with water immediately and the epoxy cracked in the bottom of one of the trous. The other was on it's side and got blown over in a strong wind and the same thing happened. The wood flexed when it fell and cracked the epoxy finish in the bottom. Eventually Ill rough it up and add a new coat of epoxy or just drop a liner in them and make it a small system again. I will have my bigger system to get food from so I wont really need the little guy but I will either use it for a trial system or give it to one of many friends that want one built for them.

My wife's sleeping right now but I'll snag the exact recipe from her tonight. Basically, you remove the center of the blossom and rinse out any pollen. Then you make a mixture of ricotta and fontina cheeses and stuff them into the center of the flower. Cut some slivers of jalepeno and stuff a few into the cheese. Fold the flower shut, dip it in an egg/milk mixture, then into bread crumbs (we used panko) and fry until golden brown. Omg they were awesome!!
