Sounds a bit like your having a go mate. You can do everything right and still have 1 or 2 lost now and then when adding new fish. You cant gurantee that all the fish you are getting are healthy and strong. Or even DOA.

Im not having a go at you at all, I just think you stated that a little loosely - my point was that if new systems are prep'd correctly and stocked correctly fish losses can be limited ("avoided" was the wrong choice of word).....sure you may lose a couple through transportation or in some cases poor quality fish....but not my point.

green troll wrote:
doing the correct procedures will lessen the risk but its not a perfect science.you cant put a gurantee on the process.all you can do is reduce the risk.

agreed...and once again, not my point.

green troll wrote:
Ive setup many many new tanks, tropical and marine, not cold water though and not ap. I hope what I have learnt will transfer over.
And yes if done correct most of the time there wont be a issue.there are tricks to it. But you can always get weak or sick fish from a supplier and when added to any system the shock can be just too much.

Once again not my point but yes you can get sick fish from a supplier...dont think anyone would argue with that....but if this a regular for you...you may want to review suppliers.

I have never had the chance to try trout so I welcome your knowledge and might try sp for my first adventure into ap. so thanks for the tip.But I cant see how you can gurantee your procedures to have a 100% success rate when there are just too many variables.

Im not saying you need to avoid trout...my point is to be careful as they are not as easy as SP...hence my saying "stock low, take it slow" all my comments on this forum are for everyone...especially the members that do not have experience yet...if you have experinence with trout well you can appreciate my advice.

Not having a go mate, but qouting me is not quite fair.Back in my prior life we had a acceptable mortality rate when getting new stock in and there was not much you could do about it.the % was very very low but it had to be taken into account in the end price.
nothing in life is certain except death and taxes.ahmen.

I dont care if your having a go, I post the things I post to help people....and I am sorry if you have taken offence to my statement, my frustrations was not aimed at you and I appologies if it came out that way. I do get a little wound up when I read over and over again of people loosing fish through ignorance....and that is my point and my point only.

Ahhh thats who I was splitting with. I got confused last night. Note to self dont go on forums when intoxicated... Was going to split with BW aswell. I dont mind getting enough for everyone, but livefish are now outta stock. They are getting back to me when they know when they are going to have them back in stock so its all up in the air at the moment.i diddnt think it would be so hard.

Also aggies has only a handful left. $10.50 at 45mm. Ouch
