Hi all,
I have found this on gumtree and was wondering if I would be able to use the as a fish tank aboveground, will the weight of the water buckle/bow or break the fibreglass? Could it be supported?

It's only $195 Negotiable.
Also what sort of volume would it be, the only comments are it's a Large 6 person, no dimensions.

It should be 489 Gallons.
If you bury it, it would work much better for you.
They are made of fiber glass, I believe 6 layer of it. Therefore it should not be able to handle the weight of the water and it will crack under load.

I imagine you'd want to build a wood support frame for it to sit in (basically an outline of it's dimensions for it's lip to sit on). Maybe some support under the stepped areas as well.

According to some google-fu, 6 person hot tubs can be anywhere from ~400-550 gallons (1500-2100 L).

take all the pipes off then fiberglass all the holes up . The little holes in the seat I stuck my air pump into which made a great air bubble feature hope this helps

I imagine it will hold. as long as the bottom is on solid ground, and the rim is supported, as it would be if it was in a spa enclosure. These are not designed to be in contact with the ground all the way around, otherwise the piping is not able to be serviced should it need to be.

so what did you do with it

I wont be able to dig it in, there is a eavesment under where I want to place it. It will be above ground and supported with sleepers at this stage.
I'll cap the underground pipes, therefore will not need to patch any holes, should be cheaper and easier.

I havent bought it yet, only because I developed a prolapsed disc and can't lift anything yet, but it's getting better sloooooooowly.....
