but then i would have to fill it up every day haha. when its bowls of water outside they usually end up playing in it and just spilling it everywhere so its fairly pointless. plus they are generally "inside dogs" anyway. they have a big tub in the laundry they drink from. if im out for the day then ill stick something outside for them to drink assuming they arent with me, which is very rare.

My girlfriends cats seem to like drinking the fish water too. I found one the other day trying to get into my IBC tank. If i hadnt have just poured in a bit of charlie carp i would have pushed it in  But i was too lazy to have to wash the charlie carp smell out :support:

haha the best thing about cats is that they are self cleaning. :headbang: and i know from experience when they get wet they lick the hell out of themselves. the last cat i had used to join you in the bath or shower quite often. strange animal she was. used to lick herself dry after. but picking your G/F's cat, after being "accidently bumped" into an IBC would have probably not have ended nicely as it tried to save its self by clawing onto anything within range, namely your arm as you reached in to pick it out. cats claws are SHARP :upset:

I would have let it go till it was exhausted.... This cat is particularly dense and doesnt seem to learn. Getting in that tank will only have to happen once.

I just hope i am there when it falls in. Dont like the idea of fishing out a half eaten cat

checked my levels today for the first time. only have 3 little goldfish at the moment who still seem to be quite happy. have also been using humonia to try and get the system cycled asap.

ammonia 2ppm
rite 2ppm
rate 10ppm

still no plants yet. need to get onto that asap as well i guess.

anyone got any ideas what could/should be planted this time of year? might have to take a drive out to a couple nurserys and see if i can get any appropriate seedlings.

so... i made a small purchase today (the grow bed on the roof of the van, not my trusty/rusty old van).... theres not much that makes the 4x4 van look small as it stand around 2M tall but it looks almost cute in this pic i reckon. you should have seen some of the looks and laughs on my way home through the hills towns. had the 3 dogs in the back as well with the heads sticking out a window each looking at everything going by. must have been quite a site.

so much for keeping things cheap. altho i have to say for a couple hundred bucks i actually think its money well spent. GB is around 3.5M x 1.8M x 1/2M. gonna really make for some nice growing space, simple plumbing and easy to build some sort of greenhouse type thing around/over it.

now i have to make a stand for it somehow, get it plumbed up.......... and wash a HEAP more scoria. anyone got some spare time? ill give you "a" beer if you come and wash my scoria for me ;)

need to get some trout soon, is tooperang fish farm about the only place in SA to get em? anyone have any idea how much they want for 50 fingerlings?

HAHAHA yea i sheet myself when they pulled me up. thought oh no here we go. alco tested then drug swabbed so i had to hang around for 5 mins while the test completed. copper asked me what it was for and told him abalone beds, he joked about being lucky it wasnt raining today or it would have filled up, gave all 3 of the dogs a good pat and sent me on my way. i was most relieved.
