Oh, well.....

I'm hoping it will self-seal. I'll wait a while and if it doesn't I"m going for a swim!

Well that's a pain. If you can get the nut and washer off without taking a dip, maybe it can be sealed from the outside.

is it just one bolt in one of the windows?

and is there any reason you didnt chose a sealant that would actually make a seal, rather than just make a gasket? water can be a bitch.

The tank is made from HDPE..there are very few substance that can stick to it. Creating a gasket is always best for this type of material. I'll either wait for it to self-seal or jump in this summer and remove the bolt and put a gasket on it.

yea HDPE pipe requires heat welding or compression fittings, there is no glue for it. Silicone can help make a seal or gasket but it doesn't really stick or bond to HDPE so it doesn't take much to break the seal.

Yeah, just for fun I put a few dabs on the tank. It was able to flick it off the tank with little effort.

I did notice that I got some foam insulation on the tank which I was spraying the walls. IT stuck on fairly well, but still popped off. I believe it's a type of polyurethane.

If there is enough room. Sit a pot plant under the drip and it will be self watering.

Hey Rob..

With regard to a gasket.. I have used Loctite PL as a gasket media..
IT was what I was given to me from one of my contact's in the US[Birdman]..

I bought one of his Filter kits from him and the PL came with it..

Woot!

Will you make them temp controlled or Manual? I like the ones you can get for small green hous vents that are gas pressure drive...when it heats up the gas expands and opens hatch, when it get cold it contracts and closes hatch.

Oh, Rob will have them temp controlled I'm sure! He will probably also have a whole computer program that can graph the temperatures and show you when the vents are opening as well as fans and all sorts of other cool stuff!

Believe me...this thing will totally be pimped out when it's done!

I'm just finishing up a design for the 5 zone temperature controller for the vents. It has one temp sensor and it can be programmed to set each relay to a different temperature setting so each vent will open/close independently. It even has a little 16x2 LCD display so you can monitor each zone. (A lot of it is the same parts that our commercial index timing uses) ;-) When I release the full video, I'm planning on giving out the schematics & software for the temperature controller.

Long term, I will scrap this unit and have it totally integrated with a main control and monitoring system that I"m developing....but since I'm pressed for time, I'm going with the stand-alone unit. ;-)
