in this picture my brindle staffordshire blue nose (pit bull) known as Mars is only 3 months old where the shih-tzu we call Star is 2 years old... now at month 4.5 for Mars, there's a bit of a size differential, and over the next few month we're expecting him to gain about 8-10 lbs per month until he reaches 10 months old... lol. my sister charted the growth of he last litter of pups that were a staffordshire and bully (2 breeds of pit bull) and the weight gaining range averaged 8-10lbs monthly. her runt only gained about 6-7lbs monthly while the biggest of the litter averaged 11-12 lbs monthly. Mars is going to be a horse. lol.

poor mum has been quite busy from time to time (litters were kept to a year apart to let her recover etc). first litter of 12, second litter 9, 3rd litter 11 and her last litter was 14. because of the big litters i also had to supplement bottle feed... poor me as well lol. i only planned on having pups till mum was 5, so shes in happy "retirement" now.
Image

even at a week old rottys are ferocious.... ok well.... actually that one was actually just yawning. cute tho i think.
Image

and lastly... my old bunny "StewIt" the first time i took him to the vets for his shots the reception chic was horrified when she asked for the bunnys name. "its stewit" "do you spell that Stewart" "nope, its spelt how you would cook it, "Stew, It"" poor fella ended up dying of natural causes after living a long and wonderful life.

Image

and many many years ago curled up to squish on the lounge. who says rottys are big scary animals?

She knows I am the boss and always tries to please me.

She will always sit on command, drop is a little more 'challenging' for her though.

She also knows her left and rights.

do you use hand signals rather than just words to give commands? dogs arent very good at speaking human, but hand signals work REALLY well. something i lernt from my years taking dog obedience classes with my 3.

some info i found on hand signals. "drop" is basically an open hand waved across the front of the dog ending in sorta pointing at the ground. i have exactly the same issue with my dogs as you. they know "sit" just fine but never quite understand the word drop.
