Hi all again!
We're back!
We are trying to pinpoint a problem with the SP in our system? ( refer to what's the ideal water hardness levels?)
All readings are within satisfactory range for an AP setup.
We are looking for information on what is the best feed for SP in any system?
We used to use Hi protein floating pellets 4 & recently went to Koi , goldfish or fresh water pond fish food! (ADVANCED PET CARE OF AUST. PTY.LTD) with protein levels @ 38% min, 5% min fat, fibre 3% max & moisture 8% max! (5mml)
We would like to know which feed is best for our fish? Could a different food be causing a problem that we are experiencing?
We have exhausted all other possibilities & now we have come to the conclusion that this could be our problem! Is this possible?
Could the food be causing our problem in our system?
If not all ideas are welcome thanx?

The feed is slightly higher protein than some Silver Perch feeds... but shouldn't be causing any problems...

Unless the feed is "off"... old... or contaminated.. ie by rodent urine...mould...

Keep feed in (preferably) an air tight container... in a cool dry place...

It';s a bit unusaul for a Goldfish feed to be that high a protein content... even for koi...

P.S... what size are your Silver Perch.... a 5mm pellet is a big pellet for Silver Perch....

That Advanced Pet Care fish feed is the worst of all the pellets i have seen and as Rupert says at 5mm is a bit large for your Perch. I would be pretty sure that is not what has caused your problems with your fish loses.
Your fish obviously have some sort of disease and as there are no fish vets that use this forum no one here will be able to diagnose what exactly it is they have, especially from just looking at a picture.
So, your options are to either do what the other guy (I think it was Matt) who had similar issues to you did and cull the fish and start over again after chlorinating the system or get the disease diagnosed by a fish vet in the hope that they can recommend some sort of treatment if indeed it can be treated.

The animal health labs do Diagnosis and investigation of diseases in aquatic species - in association with the Department of Fisheries Western Australia.

As with all govenment services these days there is likly to be a charge. Just ask the Duty Pathologist of the cost. From memory a culture costs arround $32.
