I suck at growing lettuce in AP - so far, but I've hardly tried as I don't care for it so much.

Please don't get detritus etc from a stream, it may easily be the death of your fish as you may introduce parasites with nothing to balance them out.

Good point, AA - I was only thinking bacteria. There is the other factor of parasitic contamination. I guess that brings us back to that bad P word....
