post a close up of the connection to the device and the end of the thermocouple

If you cant get it working with thermocouple wire then it wont work with a "proper" thermocouple.
Because its the exact same thing

The thermocouple wire was very short. About 60mm. I have chucked it now. Will take the whole kaboodle to the supplier and see if it works there with the thermocouple.

Got the fan mounted so long. I have a geyser thermostat that I am thinking of rigging for the meantime. It does allow you to set it right down to the 30 degree mark which is where I am going to aim for. This is going to be cool! Finally might see some results from this greenhouse setup. in terms of fish growth. The Tilapia have grown a bit but nothing to get excited about. The biggest is perhaps 150 grams now. Trying to regulate temps by manually opening doors and windows is a loosing battle....

ok.. got the thermomegodimegafter. Yipee yay! So now I get how to wire it all up...

I was thinking about how I can run a pump up to the roof and through a coil of black pipe to heat the water and control it. The gefran has two outputs. The one output I can use to wire the fan to come on when the temp exceeds 35 degrees. What can I do with the other out? I wonder if you can set each out to a different temperature. If I set the other out to about 25 degrees to tell the pump for the solar heater .. its ok to be on now.. as there is actually sun, (Can't have it pumping when its cold outside) but then I will need another controller to tell the pump it needs to be on as its too cold.. taking into account the first controller that says there is actually sun to take advantage of.. but then once the water hits 30 or 35 it must stop pumping to avoid over heating the water. Probably going to need a much more complex multi control thingimabob that can do it all... But what?

Koi seem to be growing fast.. got some proper koi food today as I was feeding them crushed trout pellets up till now. Tilapia are also going to get koi food for now... Plants seem to be doing ok.. whats left of them... Basil is the star of the show now, but tomatoes are doing well and produce a steady stream.

I am going to buy another 3 barrels and knock up a whole batch of the ap wicking beds. This probably deserves its own thread... In fact I will start one now...

Wicking bed is doing great... running without any problems and carrots are an inch high already

Sounds like it needs some hysteresis. ie. the turn on and turn off temperatures are different, so that if the temp goes up and down by one degree, it doesn't keep turning it on and off quickly.

So it would turn on at 35deg and turn off at maybe 20 deg or whatever...
