System now cycled in 4 weeks. All the right colours on the test kit rainbow. Fish arrive this week. Can't wait. Just need to work out a reasonable feed rate for 50 jades at 50mm. Plants have had unreal growth in last 2 weeks. Even harvested 1st lettuce

Plants really got knocked about yesterday with 40mm rain in 15 min. Total 70mm for that hour. Lots of damaged leaves but I am sure they will bounce back. Gee a green house set up would be nice...... When does Santa come again...

I Have Fish now! :D

New Jade Perch arrived yesterday so they are a bit shy but have taken some food already..... mostly 50mm or so but there is a better one or two in there that must be 75mm or so.....

Dropped a screwdriver in the sunk-in sump tank this morning trying to get my bilge pump that feeds the DWC unclogged (some broken plant roots that went through were enough).... can see it but can't reach it.. Have to get it out somehow. Need gadget arms I think.

You need one of these. If I had a dollar for every time I've used mine to fish stuff out of the tank

I've got a collapsible magnetic tool grabber from my days wrenching on cars. works wonders for reaching tools and other things that you drop places they shouldnt be, and you cant reach.
they are only a few bucks from any good toolshop.

Awesome growth lately. The fish have been in for a week and eating well. Plants growing wildly. Have some zucchini and squash coming through and toms are flowering.

Still am yet to get my dwc to a happy state. Tomatoes are yellowing a little and had algae issues. Re cut new rafts to close the gap for direct sun but still going green on the edges. Have 2 x cylindrical air stones in there I think are about 15l/min. Some root growth is incredible and clean and others a little blocked up. Maybe an additional filter after grow beds may help

just a 12v pump with small battery and 40w solar putting in flow direct from sump tank. Feeds in on one side and using the ibc tap at base as a slo drains back to sump. You might also see a 'safety' rack of pressure pipe all glued like a ladder running under the rafts and clipping on the sides. This was for if the kids get excited and climb in the the rafts wont sink or tip up. My 2 year old is a AP nightmare!
