Here's a couple of pics of the Abu Dhabi project... and a link to a 3D walkthrough (very slow to load...and not really that exciting... (you can see the basic design in the pic below)...

Looks like it will be multiple UVI systems? Pretty impressive. I hope they don't get all secretive on us....

Dr James Rakocy is involved in the massive AP project. He said recently, that he feels this project is the culmination of his life's work, the big one....

Could not resist and downloaded it. 2 hours later...

Impressive stuff... Masses of space next to the fish tank areas. I guess for harvesting? I guess each system is self contained so the individual systems are a bit small to apply the moving raft, with transplant stations, hydro approach I saw somewhere. I wonder what the expected production tonnage is?

Especially the sand storms they get in those parts. I wish them the best of luck though.

It's funny what you find when you go digging. The ONLY reference to this can be found in a newspaper article. http://www.thenational.ae/news/uae-news ... 0-000-fish
All the other references that you find point back there. But if you go digging for details about the Baniyas Centre or details from the Zayed Higher Organisation you only find details about a meeting to discuss the possibilities of setting up the system. There does not seem to be any active development.

I wonder if Dh6 million is enough to go far in WA, what with the cost of acquiring land before you even begin getting all the other bits and bobs.

Maybe the money's gone into some middle 'person's pocket and there wasn't enough to move onward, pending another 'government infusion'.

Tanks contain 400,000L.

"The whole system is managed by one water pump," said Jabber Al Mazrouei, the centre's chief executive and operational director. "It will produce 450,000 kilos of food per year."

How big would that pump be??? :laughing3: :laughing3:

If this place is outta business, maybe there's a whole heap of spare 2nd hand tanks/gbs and that awesome pump available on firesale - just need to find a way to ship them over in a container.
