Try the Broomsticks from Bunnings for $8 each instead of the dowel 38 $ a length.
We were a bit schocked by that price but withh the broomsticks it works fine.

yep, i have bought broomsticks or rake handles for various things... just a few buck for a plastic rake :)

We have actually used bamboo broomsticks. Is timber, does not rot and is pretty solid so I hope it will last.
