The only difference I can see is the first is 40w the 2nd is 35w and that the first one states manufactured in China. Only $10 difference in price.

Unless you need the extra head height of the aquarium shop pump, I would be getting the rockaroundtheblock pump. Better warranty, and cheaper shipping.

Just a note on the second link because it didn't make sense that it could do the same flow with better head and lower wattage - so I did a bit of scratching around, apparently the Aqua Nova pumps are made by a group in Sydney (http://www.petras.com.au/new/) but they don't list a 4500L pump that can do it for 35W. They do list a pump which does 3000L for 35W which looks like the same image, and the 4500L version actually uses 65W so that seems a little strange to me. Possibly a re-labeling going on there. The eco one listed on the rockaroundtheblock site is at least geniunely on their site.

Are they actually making them here in OZ Gemmel... or just "badging" them as "Aqua Nova"....

They're the same design (shape) as a lot of other "brands"... unless all the other "brands"... are "rebadging" these... :D

This is something you have to watch as you might be dissapointed when it cant pump to you head height needed
I have a laguna 3000 that I can only use in the pond as it will not pump to the height of my greenhouse system that I bought it for. This was my fault for not looking at the specs

knowing ebay (a little to well) I might even wager they are the exact same pump and that the ebay specs are a little overstated...
Who knows without actually testing them properly. Head was not an issue for my single IBC system so I just got the cheaper one.

Ok they're not MAKING them here, that's pretty much for certain, but according to the site the Aqua Nova brand started in syd.

Both those links list the manufacturer as "Aqua Nova". I don't trust that 35W one given the incongruity of the details. All the details listed there are the same as the 3000LPH one except for the wattage.

Hey guys, still learning here. So in an earlier post it’s recommended a spare pump be used for water transfer...could someone offer examples of why water would need to be transferred? Maybe to move system water to a soil based plot? I’m at a loss. Thanks for explaining.

Hi Christine, welcome !
It was just a comment about what to do with a spare pump.
I bought a cheap one that used tons of power and replaced it with a better one. I was complaining about it and someone suggested having a spare pump is handy for transferring water. No specific purpose, maybe filling a fishtank from another barrel of water or something...

I'm actually turning it into a pool (inflatable) vacuum and filter.... if it works out
There is always another use for a spare pump :)

I currently have 2 of these pumps in my systems here.. 1 in the Fry tank and the other in my small pond..
the pump in the fry tank has been running for over 2yrs so far and did not cost me the regular price.. Old boxe's so cheaper..

RIP - 1 Tornado/Jebao 4500, lasted a bit under 2 yrs.
Would I buy another?? No way, at that price you expect them to last a bit longer than that.
