I'm after a little help..

Anyone in the ACT know of a good mobile vehicle inspection service? I'm looking at buying a used vehicle from over that way and want an inspection done, though I'm not having a lot of luck finding any online at the moment. :dontknow:

Other than lube mobile your not likely to find one...even then I doubt they will do an inspection.

ACT is weird with its inspection rules. If you want a roadworthy inspection you need to go town approved station...

If your after a mechanic to look at a car for you I can recommend someone.

Cheers
Greg

Thats strange that no one does mobile inspections there, seems like most other states do them... It's fairly common here in Perth that people get an inspection done on a vehicle before buying.

The only requirement in the ACT is an inspection AFTER purchase by the new owner - this is the only time a car gets inspected.

You get A LOT of clunkers as a consequence.

Have you got a link to the car you want to buy?

We don't have requirements here at all, this inspection is for my benefit and piece of mind because I won't be flying over to look at the car. The owner is an enthusiast, so I have little doubt that the car is in good nick, and besides I have to get it inspected and registered here in W.A.

Ok Joel, after much deliberation I will offer to go and check out the car. I will check in the paperwork, more importantly the colour, I will see if I think Joker will be happy in the back seat, that there is as much power as the existing Volvo and the interior is as plush we the existing Audi, you can trust me with the funds yeah :)

Nice car - cant say I know anything about them though -if it was a quality car, like a pre-80's falcon, I could help you out.

Thats pretty high kms though for a non-reconditioned turbo thats had a lot of things around it replaced...

They are fairly well known as having an incredibly solid motor, so hopefully things will be ok, don;t know much about the turbo on it. The head is being rebuilt at the moment, getting new valve guides, stem seals, camshaft seals etc. and a leakdown test has been done showing 2% on 3 cylinders and 6% on the other 2, evidently up to 20% is acceptable..
