I'm heading up to Pirie in the first few days of the new year to take all your crabs and whiting away.

Yeah for sure. I've got some time off in Jan but lots to do including a trip to Lincoln. Hopefully we would be able to make it.

Hi everyone!
Add another one to the 'aquaponics obsessed' club. I live in Enfield (5085), and grew up on a farm in the Mid North- only bout 20 mins away from you wolvenstine ;).
Planning on making an IBC system when i can get back to the farm and gather up all the bits and pieces i need (including the IBC's)- prob wont be for another month or so unfortunately...
Looking forward to meeting some other like-minded people soon! Do SA peeps have catchups often?
Cheers,
Josh

I'll be using a couple that used to hold glyphosphate (ie. roundup)..
I wasn't too keen on using them in the beginning, but have done some research- the glyphosphate molecules are linked to a salt, making it super water soluble. With half a dozen good rinses, and a detergent/pressure clean i think i wont have a problem. Also, dad has told me that glyphosphate is strictly a foliar spray- so it wont work if it only goes on plant roots etc, it doesn't bio accumulate, and breaks down quickly in the environment. He mentioned something like that as soon as it comes in contact with any clay particles, it immediately becomes inert (ie. very strongly bonds to clay).

There are also has a couple IBC's that held treflan (and are stained yellow because of the dye used). To put it bluntly, i'm not going anywhere near those ones... That stuff is a whole new kettle of fish....

Pat The Barrel Man out at Dry Creek has IBCs for $30. They are as new but have had PVA glue in them.

I got one for my growbeds as the PVA can be cleaned off when IBC is opened up. Took a long time to get off though. A mate lent me his pressure spray and that worked well.

Sorry Dan :support:

Well done on finding the correct name and getting some for yourself. :)

Be warned thought, they take a bit of elbow grease to clean depending on the type of PVA glue it was.

Easiest way I think is to blast it of with hot soapy pressurised water.

I got my 200L barrel sumps from there too.

All the best, let us know how you go.

I used to think I was a tight ass but now I realise that I am actually environmentally friendly. The less I buy, the lower my carbon footprint
