The coldest few weeks of the last coulpe of winters are comming. This is a real test for the system.

On the map you can see current temperatures arround central europe. The carpatian hills are holding back the cold from the east but not for long. The cold is now overflowing the hills and filling the Carpathian Basin. The meteorologist try dont how how long will it stay, how cold wil it be but they agree its gona be hard. One thing is clear, its gona be at least one week, and the bottoms could be as low as -16C (3F). We are expecting big snow in in a few days as well.

Fingers crossed, our goal is survival!

The first two frightening nights are behind us. (-7C and -11C the lowest)

Until the sun is up and shining we have no problem, in fact the system has warmed slightly in the last 3 days!

Here is today mornings data:
date&time: 2012/1/31 7:57:52
system water: 8,75C
inside air temp: 7,25C
thermasl mass: 10,75C
outside air temp: -9,75C

The forcast is not sure whats comming and how bad in the weekend. It could be -20C with 3-5 days of snow, or -10C with less snow.

So far we are ok, fingers crossed!

Whats extra intresting in an other cool workshop from Sylvia Bernstein + Murray Hallam + Gina Cavaliero? The program between the two workshops! :funny1:

The extra day features Penn and Cord Parmenter, passive solar greenhouse farmers from Colorado! :headbang:

Looks like the aquaponics gurus took the first step towards colder climate aquaponics? Could be! I wish I could be there!

Damn, was hearing about your temps this morning on the news.. So are you getting any sun at all? Do you think that adding your water container wall at the back would help at all?

Joel!

Its working like a dream! Im having -5 to -11 days, but if the sun shines I actually win a little day by day.

We are expecting a huge snow fall for the weekend up to 30cm. Snow will help as it insulates, but the clouds will fade away the sun and thats gonna be the real hard test!

I'm guessing/hopeing the system wont go under 6-7C!

Snow has arrived, i hope it will help a bit, as it insulates. The weather is not looking nice at all, the forcast says at least 4-5 days bellow -10C, with minimal sunshine.

My father prepaired an emergency heated for me, its a heater of an old boiler. Performance 1050 Wh. We calculated the preformance, this could onle raise the temperature of the system 1C in 24 hours. So its kind of a joke, but could be enough to keep it from freezing. Its not installed jet cause I really want to bring it to the edge, to find the bottom. It's a lot of excitement but also self-controll to wait untill the point, and try to find the point befor the we reach the point of no return if there is one.

The system is duing brilliant. Im guessing this is the point where, the pit concept kicks in, and mother earth is heating my back.
