Thanks for the heads-up Ira, but I've got no shortage of tanks and grow-beds already, I just need to get them all set up into a final system, preferably within a greenhouse.

As for the greenhouse, I've gone and bought a number of massive pipes which I will use to support a roof structure of some kind, most probably with polycarbonate sheeting on the roof. Putting it up will be a bit of a way off though .

Shame you are having to decommission your system.

If you can post some pictures along with the message you have put up on the buy and sell thread, it may help inform prospective buyers. Questions that come to mind include what sort of grow-beds you have.

wow that's crazy.I tried a count for the heck of it and came up with 89 before I even seen your post. You guys would be shocked at the prices people pay here in the states for barramundi.

I still have one of these fish - kindof a pet now. Has grown quite a lot from the tiny thing it was when I purchased. No way of knowing exacts size without netting and measuring, but I would estimate that he would be 50cm.

Only one survived out of the "200" that kinda sucks.I hope it's because you ate a lot of them LOL

About 100 survived the initial issues associated with them being way too small when they were sold. I did have some subsequent issues with fish dying because of some unknown seemingly swim bladder related issue (they would end up on their side while still alive and seemingly healthy in all other repsects). This was when they fish were big enough to eat, so most of those hit the table at some point either fresh or from the freezer.

The one I still have I just left and I would now have difficulty in eating - some sort of attachment. Now I have the difficult decision of whether to heat his water through winter this year, eat him or offload him somewhere to a pet store or somewhere else for display. Hell, I might even put him in the classifieds in case there is a fish keeper out there who wants him for their fish tank.

I enjoy just watching him in the tank. Yesterday I was putting my hand into the tank and getting him to come quite close. He only really freaks out if I touch him - which is when I then wear a whole heap of water from the tank.

That's why I've got 25 silver perch that look identical - that way I can't name them. Once they've got a name they're a pet, not food!

I agree bythebrook. Once named, they are pets and as they are pets they are then entitled to the full burial. Children involved will feel the need to make a plaque to lay over the grave and plant flowers around. We have a few spots now, where, if I dig I get scolded soundly.

yep dont name then and be clear from the get go they are to be eaten to your kids.

veg you may very well sell him, seen a silver perch in an aquarium store for $80 last week!! Barra was in there a while back with a big $ on it too but cant recall exactly the number.

Naming them is ok, it's just what you name them,example Sweet chillie and coconut, steamed with lemon, Fried in butter. No problems with names here. Sister in law had two goats, roast and spit so the kids knew they were food and not pets.

I've got a brother-in-law who called his 3 calves, Big Mac, Whopper and Whopper Jnr so his mother knew they were destined to be beef...

Our pigs were called "Happy and" and "Then dead".

The kids ask when we pull something out of the freezer, "Was that Happy and or was it Then dead?"

Reminds me of that Simpsons episode when Homer had the Lobster named Pinchy and ended up accidentally cooking him at bath time and then ate him while in tears but didn't share any with the rest of the family because "Pinchy would have wanted it that way"!!!
