Yup, basil is an AP favourite, put it even close to a GB and it goes mad :)

coriander is notoriously hard to grow in QLD. Mine just bolts to seed, no matter what time of year.

I seem to grow it OK. Plant seeds straight in garden bed, good drainage, lots of water.
Remember it is only "ready" to pick for a short time. You have to use it when it's ready, not when your ready :)

Coriander is grown commercially in far north QLD, around Mareeba. So it shouldn't be a temperature issue...

Yep we have the same one here at the shop, only been in for a few months but has been growing fairly well. Looks like there's heaps of seed, in fact it's pretty much been covered in the small flower/seed head bits the whole time we've had it. It is VERY much like coriander.. I just took someone out there today and said here, have a smell of this, he was very surprised at how coriander it was...

in that link I posted it says to promote leaf growth trim all seed stems as they appear which I did yesterday "mine looked very simular to yours" and I was surprised to see a plant still under all the seeds haha :)

For all of you who want to grow coriander in Perth, now is the time. There are heaps of people that I hear say, my coriander won't grow and it bolts to flower and seed in the warmer months. So if you like corainder - plant now!

My basil grows much better in AP than it ever has in soil. I take cuttings from basil and root new plants right in the growbed.
Coriander grows best in cold months. Try growing it in warm weather and it will bolt fast a shoot up flowering stems and go to seed. Any leaves that remain on plant become bitter.
