Hi Andrew,

Is that just poly pipe you have pinned to your stand to make your small hoop house? Or is there rebar inside it too?

Great idea. Better than adding extract brackets etc to hold the hoop pipe to the Gb stand...then again...what is the cost of 1inch poly pipe compared to 20mm conduit? Guess you could always heat the end of the conduit in boiling water to flatten it, then do the same thing without bracket.

Very nice melons.
I have tried for the last 2 years to get them to grow with no luck.
Are you doing anything special. Do you plant them as seeds or seedlings.
Maybe I am not planting at the right time.
I am in perth and normally try and get my seedlings in in november.

G'day.

We have no brackets! -across the top is waste water pipe with holes for black poly thick walled retic pipe & is secured with wood tek screws! It is left over & turned out 2 cost about $1.00 a metre, having said that we brought 200mtrs when we sunk our bore! Never tried heating conduit, don't think bend to such a small radius?

Water melons where planted mid oct / mid spring, pollination is a big factor 4 getting fruit, if we don't see bee's we help the process with tiny brushes - great job 4 the kids!

Cheers

I have some of that flexi conduit. I scored it during a clean out at work. I'll see how it goes once i secure the hoops together with something rigid. Not loosing much if it fails.

I have a couple of rockmelons going nuts in the greenhouse system and noticed the first fruit starting on one of them today. Exciting as a lot of female flowers have opened but not pollinated.
Nice melon
