Whooo hoooo!!!

Looking forward to "Surf and Turf", vegetable lasagna, Ratatouille, Impossible Quiche, etc...

:eat:

Let's put some recipes to those pictures.

And cut down on the fork scratch marks on my monitor.

Rabbit stew cooked over night in the crockpot with tomatoes grown on site at BYAP. Sweet and juicy.

You are a cruel woman, Faye, cruel I say.

I think she did that on purpose.

Wasn't talking about the critter, I was referring to the Recipe. A close-up picture, so nice and meaty and juicy.

Careful, you might get sauce on your camera lens.

Wow! I suffer from that as well, but I have bruises on my forehead and chipped teeth, because I don't bother with the fork.

The Rabbit stew was so saucy and as I did not have fresh crusty bread and butter I decided to add the remaining sauce to the mock pasta (aka raw zucchini). While I was finishing the bowl and licking my licks Joel returned with dessert - homemade banana icecream. Yummy!I am so full I may go and do some gardening :flower:
I am inspired to go home and make zucchini soup and banana icecream for tonights dinner!

+1 for instant fake pasta.

Mrs Bullwinkle made some the other day, and although I was VERY sceptical, it actually turned out to be food.

We use a potato peeler in our house. If you rotate the veg so that it presents a new "corner" each cut you can make them less wide and a bit thicker(nearly spaghetti), or just peel for wide flat strips (fettuccine).

I prefer pasta, but it was pretty good, just dont think of it as pasta :)

Until about 30 seconds ago i wasnt hungry.. Thanks faye!

That food looks so good. I wonder if i would be given permission to keep rabbits for stew. Given the fluffyness of them though, i doubt it :dontknow:

Yesterday I finished making the 1.5 litres of Piccalilli and making up 3 jars. It is quite like a sweet mustard pickle made with zucchini, onion, capsicum and cauliflower plus a few extra bits. Needs to wait a week before eating.

Do the kitchen varieties of rabbit taste like wild (import) Australian rabbit? I've never had one of those domesticated ones. They look huge.

Ihave not eaten farmed rabbit, but know a few that have eaten both and they say the wild ones are much more gamey. I had an old italian bloke come buy some ferrets off me ages ago(when I had them) and he only bought them because he wanted to catch wild rabbits for himself, he had the meat rabbits but he only fed them to guests as he preferred the wild ones.

I spent quite a bit of time telling him how the young ones had been handled heaps and they didn't bite and the adult male had been brought up with 3 kids under 10 living in teh house with the people.. only for him to go to the car and I went inside for a second, came out and his arms were torn to shreds.. looked like a blood bath!!! anyway it turned out that he had bought a heap of NZ Giants and was handling them then grabbed the ferrets, the furts being hungry and having lived off rabbit thought he must of tasted good lol... Im sure to the day he doesn't believe me that they were friendly haha

Hmm pig hey, could of got you any of a few the other day!

Just shave them, spray them with water, and call them mammalian slugs. The family will be champing at the bit to hit one on the head at dinner time :)
