No I haven't. Where they full? Full should not pop out, but going to look to see if I can find his thread.

Yes, they were full. It's a long thread but a good read.

Everyone seems to get all up in arms when something gets buried. Eveyone spelled certain doom when I buried an IBC, and it is alright. I'm sure that the cisturn that you have will survive just fine.

Maybe, maybe not.
If others have had issues like this then it is worth looking into and figuring out what will prevent it from happening.
Maybe the risk is fairly low but if the consequences are unacceptable then spending a little more time thinking about it might prevent some huge headaches later on...

Did they pop out twice. I got to where they floated, but he said he had the water low when that happened about page 12 or so.

I am confident mine won't pop out, this clay tends to run water down the hill instead of soaking into the ground. We are way above sea level, so no worries there. And my tank is completely buried and packed in tight, not just sitting in a low spot like his was when it floated.

Honestly, I don't remember. Like I said, it's a long thread but worth the read, esp. if you're going to have a big setup like that.

Hi Helomech,

Washing gravel is the hardest part... filling the inside the Green house GB's with 4.9 yards of black lava rock then gravel, completely wore out everybody involved. When i have to wash another Large amount, I plan to make a sieve, by making a angle iron frame the size of the front end loader bucket face, with a piece of very small hole gauge expanded sheet metal in the frame, then mount the frame to hinge's welded to the top of the bucket with removable hitch pins, and add latch's to the bottom end, then mount a 1 1/2" spray bar across the bottom of the inside of the bucket.
Then scoop up a load of gravel, latch the Sieve down, tip the bucket facing down and dip it into a tank of water and shake it, while pumping water from the tank through the spray bar to wash the silt out........ no more washing 1/2 a 5gal bucket of gravel at a time :naughty:

My tractor is almost as dirty as yours, as i had a leak develop under the house, that left the whole area saturated, and had to dig a hole deep enough beside the house, so that i could continue digging under the house by hand to get to the leak, and was having to do this, just about the time it started raining, when it filled up your hole.......

Oh man, sorry to hear about that. I have a hard time picturing things, but will think about your design and my try it myself. This was only about 300 gallons of rocks, my real system will be around 1900 gallons of rocks.

Thanks RS

1900gal = 253.993 ft³ = 9.40714 yd³

yep, a sieve on your tractor bucket is your best bet.........

it would scare the hell out of all my PPL, to even think about washing that much gravel by hand, after washing the last 4.9 yard batch......

It is character building Helomech, :) hey, if you don't teach them the facts of life , who will!
I made each of my children build a small gravel rock wall, our youngest (daughter) was first to tackle the project and 8 years on they still recall their involvement. :dontknow: Aah memories!

Ah kids.... I always told mine that I was a "benevolent dictator"... and when they were old enough to understand what that meant.. or challenge it... they were free to go... and probably old enough to do so...

Heh I like it Rupert. I think I will do that too.

Is a 6 month old to young to wash gravel ?
He complains a lot every time I give him a shovel, maybe I'm expecting too much :dontknow:
