Awesome zsazsa! But you are right about the translation part.

Next time you grow tomatoes try and take out all the side shoots and leaves. you only need 3 or 4 leaves at the top for the plant to be fine and then they produce lots more fruit.

Im still on a learning curve with gardening. I made a hole lot of mistakes, next years gonna be better.

The article is out for two days now, it generated an unexpected huge interest. Right now the article gives over 50% of the sites trafic and its rising! Facebook fan page tripled, I get congratulations on all forums. I get request for tours, workshops and questions of all type. This could be a turning point for aquaponics in Hungary.

I was not expecting fot this much intrest, and its already comming over me.

You see, you were afraid of the interview, what to tell people and how to tell... It is not that complicated - is it? People are not dumb, (at least those who actually care to read a newspaper), and can decide what is interesting and worth some thinking over and what not.

Very nice job, zsazsa! Next you should charge admission! That or have visitors each donate a fingerling, ha.

I just found this site, and read your thread from beginning to current. I thought of an idea of how to keep temperatures inside the GH after you have sunshine during daytime in winter. How much heat do you think you could hold if you put an insulating blanket over the glazing during the dark of night, and raise it during the morning?

Anyway I had a little thought about your humidity solution of going to CF. Based on the theory that you mentioned about the air going into the GB media, I think further reducing the air contact with the water will possibly improve things even more.
Thoughts:
1. Increase the amount of dry media. for example reduce the water level or add some more media to the top. This will increase the "dead" air (air that moves very slowly because it is kind of "trapped" in the gravel.
2. Reduce the size of the GB media, this will also reduce the air movement in the gravel and therefore the potential to transfer water to the air.
3. Some combination of 1. and 2.
4. Cover unplanted GB with plastic, then cut small holes when you plant. This is probably the ultimate in reducing the water/air interface.

Yuor humidity isn't really going to be majorly induced by the air being pulled through the grow beds.. and remember that this is a part of the oxygenation of the whole system... for fish benefit, more than plants...

The humidity is more a factor of the system itself... and prescence of water... and the hotter air due to the greenhouse...

Ventilation is the key... either by raising the sides, opening the doors etc... when possible.... or by stirring fans.. and extraction fans.. or combinations...

The other thing you can do to lessen the impact of the humidity on the plants, and to lessen pest/fungicide attack... is to either spread your plants a little more.... or more particularly, and especially for tomato... to remove dead/dying foliage... and open up the air circulation between the plants, and/or foliage...

Switching to CF solved the humidity problem. I quite happy with teh current hummidity (20-25%) In fact the tomatoes started producing new leaves and flowers, so seems like they are happy as well.
