Did anyone end up trying these out? I found a domestic supplier who has 6cm fingerlings for about $2.50 a piece. I can't find blue/nile/mozambique tilapia or jade/silver perch anywhere over here so I was considering giving the buttikoferi a go...

I didnt end up finding any so have not tried them.

They are similar to talipia but are substrate spawners rather than mouth brooders.
