The computer station is in my shop thru a door from the greenhouse. The better environment in the shop protects my computer and elctronics from the extreme temp and humidity in the greenhouse. This PC and my other PCs on my LAN can talk to the Rabbit RCM3400 embedded control computer ny a network connection. I have a pass-thru opening in the wall. On the shop side are the computers and electronics. On the greenhouse side are barrier strips for wire connections. Both sides have a closable door. The equipment is mounted on a wood panel centered in the wall. That might help explain the attached pictures. One pic is a closeup of the PC monitor with the weather station data displayed. This data is logged to a file every 10 minutes.

I am planing to use Rustoleum metal primer with a coat of Rustoleum Enamel.

BTW, today I looked at the price of a 10' length of 1/2" copper pipe at Lowes. It was $14.96! I bought the pipe I used today about 10 months ago for $4.97 at the same store! Has copper tripled!?! I need to buy four more for the tank exchanger. Too bad I did not buy earlier. Before I buy, I want to check Home Depot. I think I have built my last building at these prices! Of course building permits will keep me from doing too much more. When I talk to them, it is hard to remember that it is my land. I can tell they do not think so!

I'm very lucky in the building regard, my neighbour and friend is the team leader of the folks who hand out permits. My greenhouse is only cm's inside of needing a permit size.

Love your computer set-up. I got a garden/greenhouse programme to look at a while back but could not make head or tail of it.

Doug,

Here are a few pics of my greenhouse I just took.
It is very messy. I am working on the vent opener, the heat exchanger, and doing trim and painting. Cleanup has been put off for a while.

Never mind, I'll take it just the way it is........with all the computer stuff, too.

My walls and ceiling are 2x6. The ceiling has R-30 fiberglass and the walls have R-19. Over both of these I have Dow Super Tuff-R 3/4" (19mm) Polyisocyanurate insulation. It has an R of 6.5 per inch (25mm), so my 3/4 is R-5. But best of all this has metal foil on both sides. See how shiny my walls are? But it is a dull shine, so no hot spots. This stuff is 98% infrared reflective (radiant heat reflective). That and many cases of caulk have my greenhouse very comfortable. Even lower temperatures feel warm from the radiant heat hitting your body. We have the hot tube and when you get out with the radiant heater running, you feel warm on all sides. I think this will optimise my light for the plants. In Michigan it is very cloudy in the winter. Light will be a limiting factor for about 3 months of the year (maybe more).

This radiant heat is very important because my wife and I have never worn swin suits in the hot tube! It used to be a quick trip to the patio door when the tube was on our deck! Thanks for that very bad mental image Doug LOL

Well, I -was- going to ask if I could come live in your greenhouse. Maybe not.

It's sounding great. If/when I get up to Michigan, I want a tour!!

Tours can be with clothes on. I do wear them...most of the time.
Of course, you are all welcome at our home and BYA.

I would love to be able to get together, but we're all so scattered that it gets hard. On a positive note, Dave Donley and I will be seeing each other soon. We're splitting an order of tilapia that will ship to my place. (He has to get his fishies somehow!) There was someone else here in PA, too. Can't remember who, but I don't think he's posted recently.

Just remember that US R values are (perhaps not surprisingly ;) overinflated. R5 = R1 here. Something to do with british thermal underwear.

No, I did not know that. Do you know what the equation is for your R value? Is it a metric thing, where all metric countries use the same R, but different from US R? Confusing to use the same letter "R" for both.

Thanks for the heads up on units.
