This is the completed latest project. Spent a few late nights finishing off the stand and fiddling around with the pipework, but all should be good now. I have added some Venturi siphons to try and keep the noise down as it is near bed rooms. I am not worrying about adding additional air pumps as the gold fish are fine with out air if the pump goes down for a while.

- 1000 L per hour continuous flow pump
-250 L tank
- approx. 12 goldfish
- 2 yabbies
- 2 grow beds

As yet the water has not yet cycled (water has been in the tank with goldfish for about 9 weeks). Ammonia is up so I am hoping to see some nitrites soon. Have told the wife this is the last addition (for the moment as I want to expand my 1500 L system!)

Thanks for the positive comments. :wave1: Now just waiting for this system to cycle. I am hoping that it won't take too long this time given the size of the FT.

As for the painting! Had some paint lying around and went a bit crazy. Paint coming off....yes it is, I will have to be happy with the rustic look.

Will keep posted with the progress.

sanding and a good solvent cleaning with a plastic primer are the only ways I have ever made plastic look nice and not peel.

But its over the FT...eek!. i hope its not just flaking off.

Nice and neat though, well done.

Do you expect those floating rafts to get enough sun light under the GBs? Did you steal some media/water from your 1500L system to help cycling along?

Luke, I tried to keep the paint just out of the GB...hopefully it doesn't go in. Will watch it carefully. Yes the floating GB's were initially out in the open prior to the barrel halves going over them. I am hoping to put them into my larger system however I have shade cloth and mesh over this one at the moment to 1. minimise sun exposure to fish until I get my second GB installed and 2. to keep my children out from the tank. Basically they are there as I didn't know where to put them at the moment. Will also keep a close eye on them.

By the way, great idea about taking some water from the large system. Forgot about that option! Cheers for the reminder. :thumbright:

If you can get a handfull of media, or some gunk out of your filter media, it will work even better!
