Hello all.
My name is Rhame, I've lived in the lowcountry of South Carolina all my life and always had an appreciation for the outdoors and all of creation. I have a few years experience with indoor aquariums always growing live plants for decoration and oxygen in the water, but have yet to stray into aquaponics beyond thinking and reading.
My family has a bad Disney World addiction and I can't remember the last time we made it there without taking the Living with the Land boat ride through the hydroponics greenehouse. In the last few years they finally added an aquaponics display to the aquaculture and hydroponics. Next year, I'll definitely get into the Behind the Seeds walking tour.
I've read alot on here lately, especially the 4 systems TCLynx has in her signature, and the aquaponicslynx website. Amazing!
I hope to put a system together in the next year or two. Of course, I have a 4 year old boy determined to maim himself in whatever way seems exciting outside and a 20 month old girl, so regular yard work is a challenge at this point since I have to constantly supervise. But, we'll get there soon.
Look forward to learning more and picking some brains as far as system design goes.

Welcome Jimbo, ha who would have thought aquaponics at Disneyand.

I'm in Huger, just north of Charleston with a couple of acres bordering the Francis Marion National Forest. Enough room to do whatever I want, no nosy neighbors at my back door, and enough know-how to get in trouble. At this point, pre-planning stages, maybe some materials acquisition at tax-time.
I'll sketch up some ideas of what I have in mind after I do some more research on here. Bigger than barrelponics but not commercial sized. A nice landscaped design. Still lots to absorb, though.
Faye, its relatively new, but I think the greenhouse area with all the hydroponics has been there since they opened Epcot in '82.

I went through the behind the seeds tour a few years ago and it's definitely interesting. I'm haunted by the vertical growing methods there.

If you have any spare aquariums lying around go ahead and get some goldfish and a little teeny pump and start growing some stuff! Little systems are fun and rewarding too - we don't all have to have commercial ambitions in AP. Then you can move up to storage/laundry tub sized, then barrels/stock tanks/IBCs, then who knows?

the missus is encouraging me to get rid of some of the spare aquariums on the porch now. So, if I do anything indoors, it will have to be in the same footprint of the existing aquariums. I've pondered making some growbeds out of plexiglass that sit over the tanks above the lighting, but that would simply be in addition to the regular filtration.
