Hey Guys and Girls,

Just joined the forum and an super keen to start an aquaponics system here in Townsville. I am looking for the best DIY starter plan that will be easily expandable in the future. I am on a tight budget to so if you can suggest places to purchase necessary equipment that would be great too.

I have experience in keeping fish and understand water chemical requiremets, oxygen, cycling etc. Have had quite a bit of vege garden experience both with in ground and hydroponics, neither of which have yeilded good results up here in tsv.

Look forward to any pointers you lot can give.

Your in the best place to start, you will find all the information you need here and we are more than happy to help with any queries.

Townsville is a lovely place and your warmer temps would be fantastic for barra. You can download a great manual from the home page called "The IBC of aquaponics" and its totally free!

Its a great read and will help you out a lot especially if your on a budget.

I actually have already dl'd that manual which is fantastic however I often make things more difficult then they need to be so I was hoping to get my hands on some step by step, like this do that type plans. With all the choice in that manual it's hard to know what is a good solid tried and true system to start on and then go from there.

I think IBC is definitely the go but I am having trouble locating where to get them from up here.

Can't wait to get started though.

Well Linc you are lucky because Jaymie and Axl are in your neck of the woods and they are the full bottle on aquaponics
You could always try the 1 IBC first and the instructions are there step by step, it can't be any easier than that, ask if you need help or have questions! Just follow the Youtube video!

I got a good IBC from the tip today but it has no screw cap, I was planning on using it for 2/3 ft and 1/3 gb but with no screw cap isthat possible?

Oh that would be great if you have spares, there is another nice IBC out there but again no cap sp I didn't grab it. Are you able to pm your address i am happy to come grab it from you at a convenient time.
