decided to thin out some catfish... with them the size they were, I was getting overstocked...size wise......

they were getting to big for my 600 gallon tank (2270l) and constantly knocking my
SLO's off LoL.....

It sounded like someone using a hammer on the inside of the FT... when they got excited...

File comment: Draining my FT.. you can see where the SLO's go by the white pipes on the sides.. I have four SLO's

Oh nice one JT!!!!!

Tip on keeping the rambunctious fish from knocking out the SLO drains. A stainless steel screw, you can still take it out when needed but so far it has helped me. Or another method I did was drill a hole and slide a ziptie through into the pipe to keep it from slipping off but when needed I can still pull the ziptie out to remove the drain.

Sure is, nice work JT :)
I have had really very little success with Thai catfish, to the point where I have given up with them, they really don't seem to like AP.
No idea why.

hey thanks all....

that is a medium sized catfish.. there are a couple BIG ones still in the tank......

Maybe your tank is to small.... my FT is right around 600 gallons (2271l)

I also have bluegill (bream) in there and they range from 5" to the biggest which is about 10 inch long and very thick....

I will be harvesting more catfish in a few weeks as they are getting to big for the tank... and Im afraid they will puncture the firestone liner...

I have had all kinds of sizes of tank.
The first was 4000L, the second, 280L, the third 5000+
Loads died until there were almost none left.
The latest lot, out of 100, 80 died within a week and I moved them to a small tank, unpumped, no air and since none have died.
These fish just seem to like still, dirty water, strange but true.

Good job on yours though, splendid looking fish :)

Nice fish indeed! I see you held it under the "Gone Fishin" sign for your picture. Nice touch.

I'm not too worried about the liner with the catfish. I imagine it would hurt the fish if they were to manage to puncture the liner with their barb. So far in the 4 years with 3 different Firestone lined tanks no damage to the liner has been done by my catfish. Termites and carpenter ants and rats, another story.
