Thanks Keith, I shall watch with interest. How much would you feed 6 trout? A small handful of floating pellets a day? MandyS

I think general advice is as much as they will eat, if the pellets are still floating there after an hour they should probably be scooped out.

I feed mine as much as they will eat, but do not feed trout over 23 degrees as it is almost time for the freezer then anyway. Watch the temps now Mandy, the weather is warming and may be changeover time for your fish :) Weekend bbq perhaps

In fact, just rang Trevor the Silver perch man, let's hope we can do a swap over int he next few weeks. Do you usually leave the tank in between fish groups? Mandy.

Yes thats no problem, you can leave the tank empty for a few weeks and things will still tick along nicely..

Thanks, though Trevor the Silver Perch Man is coming on Saturday and will take any unwanted trout...he sounds great. Looking forward to a great season now. Mandy.

How big are the silver perch expected to be Mandy?
I spoke to someone this week that got quite small fish and lost some which were sucked in to the pump. We recommend advanced fingerlings around 10cm.

Not sure how big they are, but thanks for the warning! Trevor suggested 20 as they aren't going to be the size of the trout. Water is now pale green, not totally clear. But on its way. Mandy.

Apparently they will be small and I need to wrap shadecloth round the pump. Also wondering if I need a larger or second filter tray with more veggies as the water is still a bit green despite only having 6 trout! Mandy.

Keep running the pump full time, float some watercress and mint.
