Hi Guys

Thought it was time to update and create a thread in here.

We have now moved our system and now have lots of new pics to show.

Water temps are starting to hit 18 degrees. Thinking it might be nearly time to 'sacrifice' my 6 remaining trout soon.

Hi Rosey, the photos look good, hopefully your tomatoes will grow to ripen before being bitten next time. Strawberries look to have lots of fruit

Hi Faye, can't wait for my tomatoes to grow. I'm out there everydate checking on them. Strawberries are kicking off well, just need to keep the bug named Jayden away from them. He checks on them everyday as well and likes to touch them all.

im guessing that teh bug named jayden is about knee high my little boy was the same till we taught him the difference between green and red, now he just pinched the ripe ones

Ok, water temps are now hitting 22 degrees during the day. First thing in the morning it is about 18 degrees, depending on the temp the day before.

Is it time to harvest? What is the maximum temp trout will still do ok?

I find up to 23 degrees and keep an eye on them over that, they will let you know when they slow down they are not happy.

They seem to be ok at the moment, not eating much but still swimming around ok.

We have now harvested our remaining trout a week ago, only had 1 floater - so not too bad for our first go at aquaponics.

Next question is what fish to get this time??? Husband wants bass or barramundi. I'm leaning towards barra but would like some advice???

What is the current water temp in the tank..?
What is the highest temp it has gotten so far and What is the lowest temp..

If I remember Barra Don't like to cool a temp..

We are in Newcastle, so we get a lot of hot days.

Highest temp so far is 26, not sure what it is sitting at, at the moment - it's too bloody wet out there with all the rain we have....

I think you'd struggle to get Barra through to size before end of April, after which you tank will be too cold... and the trout due anyway...

Unless you can get the Barra @ around 150-200mm now... which you might if you can arrange it with Taylor Made up in Pt Stevens....

Bass will take years to grow to even a kilo... in the wild a 1kg fish would be about 4-6 years old...

Well, so far so good....

Got some Barra from Taylor Made and they are cranking along and feeding quite good. Have had 2 deaths. 1 got sucked into the pump and the other was a floater, not bad so far.

All my readings have jumped a little bit at the moment so have stopped feeding and added some salt.

Will test again tomorrow to see how things are.

May I ask if it's a constant flood or ? More details please.

Which variety of strawberries are you using?

How many fish, what size would it take to just raise all strawberries (how many plants) in your system?

We use to raise a couple of plants in our sandy field. The variety was Glooscap.
We and are customers where very happy with it.
