If you buy a fair few bags, most places sell at around the $30 mark per bag. I just bought 120 bags at $24/bag (inc. GST) around three pallets through a retail hydro store (need another three lol) and the freight was $286 from Victoria to South Coast NSW.

Not a snowball's chance in WA... retailers don't pay much under that per bag... wholesale!

I could buy Hydroton at those prices. I tried once but freight is the killer.

Really? I have a price from WA for $23.65 per bag from retail but the freight to NSW was going to be $270 per pallet or there abouts.

There's probably only two hydro shops in Melbourne that would be able to do that rate... and they're probably both on eBay...

That wasn't the long term plan Gazza. We were in the process of doing another three and we do have seeds in the grow bed. The fish are only 2cm long at the moment also so heaps of room

You may want to check your thermometer? What type are you using? I had an electronic one once that was way out, while floating glass ones seem pretty reliable.

That is damn hot if it's 32.. Also perhaps thinking about shading the growbeds, at least until your plants get growing and provide shade.

Yeah we checked and it is hot.. We are getting the high 30's temp wise here every day now so yeah I am pretty sure about the temp. Floating one and double checked with hubbys you beaut thermal one as well. Got heaps of shade as shade cloth was the first thing we put up. Our water does get quite warm up here...for example I can't put my washing machine on cold wash or else it just beeps at me as the water coming out of the tap is stinking hot.

That is why we really need a way to keep the water cool not warm like everywhere else..lol

Is there any additional air pumps? At those temps and the slow pump rate it might help a lot.

No no air pump but we were considering that also. Saying slow pump rate...should we be pumping faster? We researched this and thought we had it right

Cheers
