I voted both. I like the idea of veggies but also getting some bbq fish out of the deal is great to.

That was very well said TimB... It is a family affair just like an all rounded system. Obviously one can't survive without the other (closed loop) but they both play an equally important role in the system.

eating your own fish, right out of your own back yard, probably the bonus thats making my system a reality.
monya those are some big fish in that photo, what breed are they, and how long did they take to grow?

Cheated on those ones mate. They were speared on the Yorke Peninsula here in SA, we go out at night with underwater lights (aircraft landing light in sealed vegemite jar on a pole LOL) and walk thru reef and stuff. Some are strongfish which put up a hell of a fight when speared, one is a mulloway which was an unusual catch for the area but a welcome bonus as it is delicious eating.

Monya, what type of spear? just hand spears Or a spear gun (power head/elastic) ?

prob should have added this in the first post too, but with the water conditions, etc, which needs do you cater to the most.
eg Plants - high nitrates
fish - low or zero nitrates
both - a comprimise of med nitrates
