Has anyone tried fruit in their aquaponics system? I've got a Pinkabelle (Dwarf Red Lads Apple) tree that has done nothing since I potted it and I am tempted to move it to my GB

How long have the tree been in? I think some trees will do nothing for a while as it establishes its root system.

My peach tree is growing foliage again but have not seen a fruit form yet. When it forms, I will update my system thread with details.

I've had it for about 18 months but I think the pot is too small and I didn't put enough potting mix in it. The apple tree is the pot on the far left. What if I converted the pot into a constant flow growbed with gravel?

I may be wrong, but I thought most avocado trees were grafted as chances of a good fruit bearing tree are something like 1 in 10.
I have 2 hass and a sheppard on order :)

Yes, I guess you could graft good stock onto the seed grown one... Or take a gamble...

Not worth the gamble really, takes at least 7 years and the fruit could be useless, often seedling avos are all seed no flesh, however occassionaly they are beautiful. Avos have a really extensive root system and grow to a huge tree, doubt if they would ever be more than ornamental.

eh I just put it in the growbed for a laugh, and it was a longer walk to the bin

I'm sure I'll destroy / move / change / rebuild the whole system before an avocado tree could grow out of it

Jack, so really the tree has only been in there for 1 season. Well not sure about constant flooding but I think in the winter month you would probably want to keep it just flood and drain as the tree is really dormant.

It is really up to you, the tree might come good in the pot this season but if you move it to a new growbed and disturb the root system, it might not do so...
